I am a lead software developer at a Fortune 100 company and in my spare time I work on whatever project catches my fancy for the time. For example… I have wired/installed/programmed my own DSC home alarms, built a bed for my younger son, and created several web sites that give me disposable income to keep playing with new stuff regularly.
A few years ago we drove around on Christmas Eve to go see lights nearby. We saw many static displays and even one synchronized display with the house and yard covered by lights, almost every inch. That evening my wife said we should do some lights at our house. I figured that if I was going to do something, I was going to “do something”. That year we picked up lights from stores all around us on clearance and I investigated controllers. By that next October we had a 4′ singing pumpkin and other lights up for our first show.
Fast forward to 2015. We had 2 LOR controllers for 32 channels, typically running ~6000 lights (incan/led mix). I say typically because we moved mid 2015 and our show did not have everything up due to house/landscaping adjustments.
